Legacies provide around £1.9 billion income for charities every year. In 2008, 15.8% of wills contained a charitable bequest, compared with 9.5% in 2006. The legacy market is experiencing strong growth and all charities no matter how small should consider how they can build a legacy income stream.
Target audience: This course will benefit those who are new to legacy fundraising and want to develop a legacy fundraising programme in their organisation.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the unique characteristics of legacy fundraising and the benefits to their charity.
- Identify and prioritise legacy prospects.
- Develop appropriate communications related to legacy giving.
- Engage potential legators.
- Comply with relevant legislation and best practice.
- Evaluate the success of a legacy fundraising programme.
